Clematis 'Josephine'

This is a pre-order item available for pickup during IRIS-Istable Clematis Kerfluffle. Other spring preorder plants will be ready for pickup mid-to-late May.

Known for its incredibly intricate, multi-layered blooms, this cultivar offers a level of floral detail rarely seen in hardy climbers. 'Josephine' produces large, 12–15 cm double flowers. The base consists of a wide circle of pale mauve-pink sepals, topped with a dense, pom-pom center of narrower, ruffled petals in a deeper lilac-pink. One of the most unique traits of this variety is how long the flowers last. Even after the outer sepals eventually fall, the central "rosette" remains on the vine for weeks, looking like a completely different, smaller flower.
